2023 TST Outing (OH/PA/MI/NY/WV) - Join Us May 20 @ Little Mountain!

I understand we are in late Dec. and looking at a larger storm over the holiday (in Michigan) but my mind is on Golf for next year.  I am hoping to coordinate a TST Outing in 2023 and hoping to participate in at least one other TST Outing 

I am starting this thread to solicit interest and begin planning an outing.  I encourage you to post if you are interested and if interested what locales might you be open to.  At this time it is very open ended.

We have members across a wide geographic area and some may need to drive but hopefully we can find somewhat central areas that get a high rates of participation.  It is very possible we have more than one TST Outing in 2023 so do not hold back, if you would like to participate get in on this initial discussion and lets find a way to make it work for as many of us as possible.

My initial thoughts are late May or June 2023 on a Saturday afternoon with an optional Sunday morning round for those that choose to spend the night.  It would need to be a "Rain or Shine" event since planning well out in the future.  One possible area is Cleveland, Ohio vicinity.  That is @ 3 hours from me in Michigan, @ 4 hours from Cincinnati area and not bad from Pittsburg or Western New York.

Question 1: Who is interested in a Cleveland Vicinity TST Outing on Saturday May 20, May 27, June 3, or June 10 with an 2nd optional round on the following Sunday.

  1. @StuM currently 5/20, 5/27. 6/3 and 6/10 all work for me

Question 2: Who is open to coordinating a TST Outing in 2023?

  1. @StuM - I will coordinate 1 outing in Cleveland Area
  2. @StuM - I can assist with one in Michigan if enough are interested.

Question 3: What other areas might you be interested visiting for a TST Outing?

  1.  @StuM - Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania or Kentucky dependent upon date (I do not mind traveling)

I should be healthy enough to go any of those dates.   Since I missed a significant amount of golf in 2022, I'm going to try and make up for lost time in 2023.   Count me in!

Yeah, that trip this year… let's see… it's good to play before the lessons, mostly, don't you both agree?

As I told @StuM in a DM… Natalie has Nationals through May 12, and then we'll have to move her in to her place in Maryland for her internship, so… the 20th is likely the best looking window for you guys. We wouldn't want to push it to June, that's for sure.

Now that we've moved and my son isn't quite a newborn anymore I should have more time for golf things like this next year. I would be in for 5/20 or 6/10.

5/27 is Memorial day weekend and we usually go to a lake house and 6/3 is my anniversary so would likely be out for both of those weekends.

Oh yeah, me too. Sometimes golfing after a lesson I'm a like a palsy victim doing brain surgery with a pipe wrench!

I'm with you on that.  in Oct 2021 Erik changed my grip.  It took a large part of the 2022 season for it to feel natural and I was really messed up for a while.  (OK, I'm still messed up but the grip is less of an issue)

I'm so in for this in 2023, though May 20 weekend is out as I'm volunteering at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill. The rest of the dates work. I'm coming from "east side" (finger lakes) but can easily roam as far as Cleveland.

If there are other western/central NY and PA folks here, I'd be up for coordinating a separate event in that region later in the summer.

      Yeap, tried a couple times but always ended with back pain after a month so I abandoned that route and focused on improving my swing to be more efficient in order to gain speed.  Yes, this is what I can't figure out. When I go after it with irons I can increase club speed (more ball speed), but with driver I cannot drive it faster than my normal on tournament speed.    In fact, changed from 716 AP1 to Callaway APEX pro 2023. The new ones are slightly softer in loft and a little heavier in shaft.

      Totally, but keeping the ball in line i will keep you a LOT more out of trouble.    I agree! but still, in average greens are more depth than wide so what you are showing are less normal in golf courses. Take the time and you will see that even on your own home course you have a lot more greens that have more depth than width.  So having less dispersion sideways is better than in depth just because of how greens are made in general.  Also average greens generally have more danger sideways than directionally so makes it even more important to keep it straight. Perception of reality is on thing, numbers that backup your ideas is another.

      I'm in a bit of a transition, at my home course I play the Blue tees most of the time, the regular men's tees.  But many weekdays I play with a group of retired players, and play the "senior" tees, close to 600 yards shorter.  I've set up two lines in the "home" compilation page, one for the regular tees, and one for the senior tees.
